Enderby Senior Band sweeps the board at Buxton Brass Band Festival.
Enderby Senior Brass Band had a very successful visit to the 46th Buxton Brass Band Festival
The festival is an annual event and this year took place on Sunday 3rd May at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton, a wonderful historic venue situated in the heart of the town.
In what is described as the 'unique' setting of the Victorian Octagon Theatre, adjudicators Brett Baker and Kevin Wadsworth had a wealth of high class music-making to judge, provided by a total of 34 bands hoping for festival awards.
The Band was one of seven competing in the Championship Section, which was judged by adjudicator Kevin Wadsworth.
Their superb rendition of "Partita" (by the British composer Philip Sparke - noted for his concert band music) gained them the Brian Stead & Gordon Nelson Memorial Trophy and a prize of £400. In addition, Principal Cornet player Ian Dickman was awarded the Harpur Hill Cup for his inspired solo performance.
The Buxton Festival was sandwiched between the organisation's concerts at Enderby Parish Church on April 25th and the 9th May concert performed at St James the Greater, London Road, Leicester.
