Enderby Band Celebrate Christmas around the Village
In a tradition established for over a century, members of the Enderby Bands took part in their annual Carolling around the village on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Lead by Musical Director Trevor Hounsome, a small group of nine players toured the streets of Enderby for four hours, bringing many people a taste of seasonal cheer.
A long-standing friend of the band, Garry Sleath said “I’ve taken part in 47 Boxing Days and 45 Christmas Days around the village myself, and I know there were news reports about the Band doing something similar back in 1916, and even then it was referred to as ‘the old time custom’ ”.
This year’s session was complemented by some gloriously sunny conditions, which helped things along; while Band members were provided with festive refreshments by friends at several places around Enderby.
