Enderby Bands triumph at Hebden Bridge.
Two of the Enderby Brass Bands competed in the recent 'March Contest' at Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, and came away with a great haul of prizes for their performances and musicianship.
Organised by the Hebden Bridge Band, the contest saw many brass bands from all over England marching through the picturesque streets of the town, each playing two marches and a hymn tune, closely watched by adjudicator David Read.
The Enderby Youth Brass Band came first in the Youth Section, with their selection of 'The Villager', 'Army of the Nile' and 'Praise my Soul the King of Heaven', receiving a trophy and £100. The Enderby Senior Brass Band were also amongst the prizes, coming second overall, as well as receiving a further award for performing the best hymn tune
And that wasn't all - Paul Bosworth, who plays soprano cornet in both the Youth and Senior Bands was presented with the Mortimer Trophy for the best instrumentalist in the Youth Section. The trophy is named after the legendary Harry Mortimer, one of the founding fathers of the brass band movement, who came from Hebden Bridge.
