Enderby Band win award in National Championship.
Soloist performances commended
Enderby Youth Brass Band have received a well-deserved Bronze Award for their outstanding performance at the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, held at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
As well as the test piece "The Pioneers" by Philip Sparke, the Band played the march, "Army of the Nile", which the judges described as a "great choice", followed by "Pie Jesu", with soloists Paul Bosworth and Vicky Day, whose performances were commended.
The set was rounded off by "Zulu" by John Barry, which drew further praise from one of the judges, who remarked:
"Well done on a big programme with variety - thank you!"
Musical Director of the Enderby Youth Band, Trevor Hounsome added:
"I was delighted with the Band’s performance - everyone played at the top of their form and we received many complimentary comments from the audience".
