Did you play in the Enderby Band ?
Then come to our Reunion !
The Enderby Bands are inviting all former players, and indeed anyone who has had any connection with the Bands over the years, to a Reunion, to be held at the Leicester Lions Rugby Clubhouse, Lutterworth Road, Blaby, Leicester LE8 4DY on Saturday 3rd October at 8pm.
There has been a Brass Band in Enderby since at least 1895, and although it faltered a little in the 1970’s, it was rescued by Gary Sleath, who built it up from only 4 or 5 members to the Band that is pictured above, which appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in 1983.
The photograph dates from 1985, and shows the entire Band (there are now five Bands) with the conductor, Gary Sleath, in the centre of the front row. A youthful Trevor Hounsome, now Musical Director of the award-winning Enderby Youth Brass Band, can be seen on the far left of the third row. If you appear in the photograph, please come along to the Reunion, and bring your instrument – we are aiming to get together as many former players as possible.
