Pontins 2007
Trev's thoughts..
Enderby Youth Band travelled to the British Open Youth Brass Band Championships on the weekend of July 6th and 7th.
These were held at the Pontins camp at Prestatyn. Despite the disruption of GCSE and A Level exams in the run up to the Contest,
the Band worked hard to prepare their programme.
The Band performed to an extremely high standard on stage, and were somewhat unlucky to be placed outside the main prizes, in 4th place. We were very pleased to pick up two special awards in addition to our £100 prize money for 4th place. Congratulations to Phil Murphy, who won the Best Trombone prize for his rendition of The Acrobat, and to our Bass Section (Rob Reeds, James Newby, Luke Welsh and Jess Hunt) who were judged to be the best Bass section of the day.
The band enjoyed a social weekend, which included cricket, visits to the beach, swimming in the pool (and the sea!), and late night dancing in the Discos. The parents quite enjoyed themselves too, with red wine sales rising considerably in the area over the weekend!
Once again, thanks to all the players for a great weekend and a superb performance
