Enderby Wind Band Concert Our last concert was at Christchurch on Clarendon Park Road and was both well received by the audience and enjoyed by the band members. Our specially selected programme was chosen to showcase the variety of styles available to the Windband and to demonstrate the talent of the different sections and players.
Opening with a quick march entitled Bandology the evening progressed with a flute solo by Helen Palmer playing the Queen of the Night's Aria from Mozart's The Magic Flute. The ever popular The Swinging Shepard Blues and Ashokan Farewell then led to an accompanied vocal solo by Louise Greenfield of I Dreamed A Dream. Our saxophone quartet impressed with the Wallace and Gromit theme tune, then a saxophone solo by Clare Sanderson with a piece called A Special Place and the traditional Russian folksong Kalinka ended the first half.
The second half began with the striking Carmen Suite and a solo rendition of Rhapsody In Blue played by David Averre. Japanese Tune consisted of a medley of well-known tunes and featured the flute, clarinet and bassoon. The evening ended with two modern pieces - the enjoyable Eighties Flashback and Best Years of Our Lives from the film Shrek
.
We can't wait until the next one!!
