Enderby Windband Goes From Strength To Strength!
2008 saw the Enderby Windband grow from a promising up-and-coming community group to a fully-fledged performing band that entertains and delights audiences around the county.
Throughout the year they have played at a number of churches, schools, theatres and bandstands and have collaborated to great success with the Limelight Musical Theatre School and the Humberside Police Concert Band.
Despite their busy schedule the players found time in December to create a festive atmosphere for shoppers by playing carols at the Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre and the newly opened Highcross Leicester – being the first band to play to shoppers there.
Anyone attending a concert can expect a wide-ranging and challenging repertoire, from Big Band favourites to the Beatles and Mozart to Moulin Rouge. The band showcases different styles from marches, classical pieces and folk songs to blues, film scores and modern pop music. Different instruments are also highlighted through solos and sectional features.
2009 has already proved to be another busy year for the band and they have concerts booked throughout the year. A large proportion of these bookings are venues they have been invited back to because they impressed so much on previous occasions.
So if you fancy being entertained by a group of highly skilled and accomplished musicians, the next engagement the band has is Ratby Music Fest at Groby College on Friday the 19th of June.
